Limnobium laevigatum, commonly called Amazon frogbit, is a floating plant. It is considered one of the best plants for traditional and open aquariums. A floating plant’s fine, long and decorative roots provide protection to gouramies and other surface fish that love them. If there are enough nutrients in the water and the light intensity is good, new leaves will appear above the water surface. If the nutrient level in the water decreases, it will grow much slower, which makes it a reliable indicator of available nutrients. The light requirements are medium to high. However, a constant supply will ensure healthy growth of the plant.
